On the ground

Position
At the town’s southern edge
Time
60–90 min for a careful walk
Care
Active road, rock, and unsupervised water

At the edge of town, the Vjosa enters a limestone corridor. The old road follows the water while springs emerge from the rock face.

The gorge makes most sense slowly: stop only in safe places, listen to the water, and see how geography has determined every route through this pass.

Before you go

Traffic and pedestrian space vary. Avoid blind bends and check current conditions before setting out.
